Gigsup Inc. ("Gigsup", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including PIPEDA, provincial privacy laws, and emerging AI governance standards. This disclosure explains how we collect, use, store, process, and protect your information — including how we use artificial intelligence ("AI") systems.

1. What Information We Collect

We collect information in order to provide personalized career insights and improve our platform.

A. Personal Information You Provide

  • Name, email, age range
  • Resume/CV uploads
  • LinkedIn URL (if provided)
  • Education history
  • Work history and job titles
  • Voice-to-text reflections
  • VISI assessment responses
  • Career interests, preferences, values, strengths

B. Automatically Collected Information

  • Usage activity on the platform
  • Device and browser type
  • IP address (for security and analytics)
  • Referral source (UTM tracking)

C. Derived & Inferred Data

Using AI models, we may generate:

  • Skill extractions from resumes or LinkedIn
  • Career fit rankings
  • Career pathway predictions
  • Strength and competency insights
  • Behavioral or preference patterns

These insights are considered personal information where they relate to an identifiable individual.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver personalized career insights and recommendations
  • Match you to career pathways, education programs, and mentors
  • Improve our AI models and platform functionality
  • Conduct analytics to enhance user experience
  • Provide institutional dashboards (in aggregate form only)

3. Explicit Statement on Employer Data Sharing

We do NOT share your personal data with employers without your explicit authorization.

Your identifiable personal information will only be shared with an employer when:

  • You apply to a job through the platform, OR
  • You explicitly consent to share your profile for a specific opportunity

We do not sell personal data. We do not provide employers with access to individual student profiles without user consent.

4. Aggregate & De-Identified Data Use

To improve our platform and AI systems, we use:

  • De-identified education pathways
  • De-identified work histories
  • Aggregated job title patterns
  • Aggregated skill distributions
  • Aggregated behavioral trends

This data is stripped of direct identifiers and used for:

  • Model training and fine-tuning
  • Labour market insights
  • Institutional analytics dashboards
  • Platform research and product development

Institutional partners receive only aggregate, anonymized analytics — never individual-level identifiable data unless separately authorized.

5. AI & Model Training Disclosure

Gigsup uses artificial intelligence and machine learning systems to:

  • Extract skills from resumes and LinkedIn profiles
  • Generate personalized career recommendations
  • Identify patterns across aggregated career pathways
  • Improve skill-matching accuracy

Use of Personal Insights for Model Improvement

We may use your personal inputs (e.g., reflections, skill selections, pathway choices) to:

  • Improve how our system understands career trajectories
  • Improve personalization accuracy
  • Train internal AI models

Where possible, we use de-identified or pseudonymized data for training purposes. We do not use your data to train public AI models or third-party AI systems. We maintain internal controls to prevent re-identification of de-identified datasets.

6. Lawful Basis & Consent (PIPEDA Principles)

In accordance with Canadian privacy law:

  • We collect information only for identified purposes.
  • We obtain meaningful consent before collecting sensitive data.
  • You may withdraw consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual restrictions).
  • We limit collection to what is necessary for our services.

7. Data Storage & Safeguards

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including:

  • Encrypted data storage (at rest and in transit)
  • Role-based access controls
  • Secure cloud infrastructure
  • Vendor security assessments
  • Limited employee access to personal information

Data may be processed on secure servers located in Canada or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Where data is transferred outside Canada, we ensure appropriate contractual safeguards are in place.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Maintain research integrity
  • Improve model accuracy

Users may request deletion of their account and personal data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your province, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent
  • Request deletion
  • Request information about automated decision-making processes
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

For Quebec residents, additional rights under Law 25 may apply, including rights relating to automated decision transparency.

10. Automated Decision-Making Transparency

Gigsup uses AI systems to generate career recommendations. These outputs are advisory and intended to support — not replace — human decision-making.

Users may request:

  • An explanation of how recommendations were generated
  • Human review of automated outputs

We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human oversight.

11. Children & Youth Users

If we provide services to users under the age of majority, we will obtain appropriate parental or guardian consent in accordance with applicable provincial laws.
